Just when I was sure that my "first days of Spring" tablescape would include vibrantly bright tulips in pinks and reds and oranges like you saw the last time I was here, I got a surprise. These creamy-white ones decided to bloom ... and I couldn't resist!
I wanted something elegant but not fussy.
Simple but not plain.
And, I wanted a non-traditional, asymmetrical centerpiece ...
... so I laid the tulips to one side and stuck in a little monogrammed brandy snifter with a floating candle.
From above, all you can see is the goblet, but here's a bunny's eye view ...
Noritake "Bluedawn" plates are paired with two different patterns of gold-rimmed dishes. I decided to forgo chargers in favor of showing off the vintage crocheted "family treasure" runners.

I just love mixing pricier items (all purchased for pennies on the dollar at auction), inexpensive pretties, and natural beauty in the same tablescape. It's really all about "the look" rather than the price tag. Tablescaping does not have to cost a fortune!
Do you have a favorite "mix and match" tablescape? If so, what items did you put together? OR, can you think of a challenge? What would you like to see someone try to pair up? Go ahead ... I love a challenge. Any suggestions?

Love the gold rimmed plates and compotes....you knew that I would....and the centerpiece bowl is a treasure! Beautiful. Every fall I forget to have my tulips planted....some year I'll be organized. The whites are magical. A mix and match challenge....I've got nothin'....I think more along the lines of point/counterpoint. If I have smooth, I'm adding texture. If I have shiny, I'm adding matte...etc. Small/large....pattern/solid...and on and on. I'll give the idea of a mix and match challenge some thought. Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay

ReplyDeleteNow, see, I would have gone totally predictable and messed up the real beauty of this one. I would have tried to make the tulips flair out symmetrically, and they wouldn't have looked anywhere near as nice as the as the way you had them to the side like that. Plus, I wouldn't have been savvy enough to leave out the chargers and showcase the linens.
One of the reasons that I love blog land is that I feel I'm honing a craft and learning something from other bloggers every day.
This was just beautiful. I think you could meet just about any challenge.
So, hmmm... let's see.
How about dainty pink with rustic/earthly accessories?
