How to: Auctions

I LOVE AUCTIONS! If you've never been to one, I wish I could take you! Honestly, they're sometimes intimidating and a bit overwhelming for first-timers, and it's kind of fun to watch otherwise-self-confident friends get bug-eyed and nervous about raising their hand to bid. (Okay, so now you know I have a strange sense of humor!)

Actually, I think I'm a pretty good teacher when it comes to helping first-timers "learn the lingo" (as it was said when I was growing up in Texas).  This section will be dedicated to teaching you about various kinds of auctions, how to bid, etc. Before you know it, perhaps you'll be brave enough to look for an auction in your area. Beware... Auctions can be addicting!

I took a picture of this beautiful old wardrobe at an auction preview --
the day before I bought it to store some of my linens!
Let me tell you about it HERE.

  1. Do you take items to auction other people? If yes how does that work?

If no is there a Linen only Auction Site?

  2. Great questions! No, I don't take consignments, but you may be able to find someone in your area who does. If they sell online, it's best to find someone knowledgeable about vintage linens so they can describe them properly. Better yet, if possible, provide them with your own description of each item.

I am not aware of a "linen only" auction site, but there are many eBay sellers, for example, who only sell vintage linens. Depending on the quantity and quality of your linens, one of them may be willing to do consignment sales for you -- or perhaps even buy your entire lot for a set price. Just contact them directly. Good luck!
